ThanksLiving Part 2

• November 25th, 2014

"Gratitude begins where my sense of entitlement ends". You can be in the midst of a "blessing" and totally miss out on what God is doing, all because of a spirit of "Entitlement".

The Bible tells us to “Give thanks IN ALL circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” The key is the word “in.” God doesn’t expect me to be thankful FOR all circumstance, but IN all circumstances. There’s a huge difference.

In this message we learn from the passage about Daniel in the lion's den and how gratefulness was a huge factor.

ThanksLiving

You can get the flu, stomach virus and even sinus infections. But one of the most dangerous sicknesses that people really need to watch out for is the sickness called… “Destination Disease”

In short, Destination Disease says, “I cannot be happy right now, something has to change or be different in order for me to be happy”.

This Destination Disease is a serious matter, because in the same way you don’t feel like yourself when you are sick, you don’t act like yourself when you have “Destination Disease”.

The cure to this ‘sickness’ is found in being grateful. Gratitude means thankfulness, counting your blessings, noticing simple pleasures, and acknowledging everything that you receive. It means learning to live your life as if everything were a miracle, and being aware on a continuous basis of how much you’ve been given. Gratitude shifts your focus from what your life lacks to the abundance that is already present. In addition, behavioral and psychological research has shown the surprising life improvements that can stem from the practice of gratitude. Giving thanks makes people happier and more resilient, it strengthens relationships, it improves health, and it reduces stress.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Jesus offers the ultimate life insurance policy. It was a policy bought and paid for through His death and His resurrection. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.
